PAKENHAM detectives have released photos of three men they want to speak to in relation to the brutal bashing of a 45yearold man in Pakenham on Saturday, 3 March.
The victim, a former Pakenham resident, was bashed and left for dead in a Pakenham Park.
Police believe two people, possibly more, were involved in the vicious attack.
The attack was described by police as “one of the more serious” assaults seen in the area for several years.
The incident took place between midnight and 3am. The victim had been playing pool at the Railway Hotel but left the Main Street pub without incident.
The man was in Cox Gardens, just behind the town library, when he was set upon by his attackers and was repeatedly kicked and punched.
The man suffered broken ribs, a punctured lung, broken nose and had his oesophagus split under the tirade of blows.
He was found lying in a semiconscious state near the former police station in James Street.
The man was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a critical condition for treatment and has since been discharged.
Anyone who may have information about the assault or who may know the people photographed are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
