Poor passes plague Berwick

POOR passing proved costly for Berwick Netball Club’s Agrade team on Saturday, going down to Pakenham by six goals.
Berwick started the game well and held a threegoal lead at half time.
The defenders applied strong pressure all game causing many turnovers.
However, erratic passing in the third quarter enabled Pakenham to take the lead and Berwick was unable to close the margin.
Scores: Pakenham 50 d Berwick 44.

B GRADE

In another close game, Berwick came up against a strong Pakenham side.
Berwick started slowly and was six goals down at the first break.
The players settled into their positions in the second quarter and from defensive turnovers were able to bring the score back to even at halftime.
Only one goal down at the start of the last quarter, Berwick had its opportunities to win, but eventually went down by six goals.
Scores: Pakenham 52 d Berwick 46.

C GRADE

It was a tight contest all game with scores level for most of the match.
Nicole Liddle and Glenda Clarke proved to be a strong goaling combination and the defensive pressure was excellent all game, creating scoring opportunities.
Berwick played well, but went down by two goals.
Scores: Pakenham 31 d Berwick 29.

17 AND UNDER

Berwick started confidently and was only five goals down at halftime.
A lack of concentration in third quarter allowed Pakenham to take a strong lead and although Berwick fought back to win the last quarter, lost by 11 goals.
Scores: Pakenham 34 d Berwick 23.

13 AND UNDER

The first quarter was an even contest with both teams applying pressure.
Berwick regrouped at the break and dominated the next three quarters to come away with a convincing win.
Scores: Berwick 42 d Pakenham 12.
