Revenge on the greens

IT was a day of revenge at Pakenham Golf Club on Saturday.
It was the return of ‘Hoaries Revenge’, a fun day where the pins are placed in ‘unusual’ and tricky positions – enough to frustrate the most eventempered golfer.
The day, a twoman Ambrose event, was started by former curator and life member David Hoare, when he retired about three years ago.
David has full licence to place the holes where he likes the night before and must have been to his liking, winning nearest the pin on the 16th.
The ‘compliments’ regarding the pin placements could be heard during the day and competitors had some good excuses for not coming in with a reasonable score.
Mark Klaver and Anthony Colvin obviously did not have much trouble with the pins shooting 63 (handicaps 3/4) to win the day.
Runnersup were Miro Majstorovic and Grant McKay with 65 (1/4).
Down the lines went to Gary Westwick/Grant Smith 65, Clint Sezney/Bret Mottrom 65 3/4, Scott Findlay/Shane McKiernan 66 1/4, Shane Wilkinson/Ross Stewart 66 1/2, Ross MacLean/Colin MacLean 67, Bob Dowse/Paul Hobson 67 1/4, Gordon MacKenzie/George Savkov 67 1/2, George Coffey/Martin O’Hare 67 3/4, John Campbell/Michael Burns 67 3/4, Claude Munzone/Ronald James 68, Rick McHugh/Rob McCoubrie 68 1/4, Jason McQualter/Stuart Scott 68 1/2 and Mason Shadwell/David Shannon 68 1/2.
Nearest the pin on the golf shop second hole went to Ray Allen with Paul Hobson successful on the Pakenham Subway fifth hole.
The Dante’s Woodfired Pizza eighthhole winner was Martin O’Hare and Clint Sezney took out the Hungry Jack’s 14th hole.
The Pakenham Pizza 16th hole went to David Hoare.
The B.M.R. Autos Agrade longest drive was won by Gary Westwick and B grade went to Scott Findlay. The McIntyre Painting Cgrade longest drive winner was Michael Burns.
Raffle winners were Ron Seamer and Bill Toogood.
This week is the August monthly medal sponsored by the Great Australian Bakery, Main Street, Pakenham and the following week is Irish fourball Stableford.
