ROC rolls over Seagulls

ROC seniors produced four quarters of tough playon football to crush Tooradin by 89 points at Officer on Saturday.
With its their runon style of play working perfectly and a tight uncompromising defence, the Kangaroos ran away with the game in the second half.
After conceding three goals in the opening minutes of the first term ROC knuckled down to overpower the visitors with speed and aggressive tackling.
Sean Stanton enjoyed the move to the forward line and kicked eight goals in a bestonground performance. Brad Jones had an excellent second half and young Damien Talbot also gave the opposition plenty of headaches.
The backline was tight and tackled and harassed the Tooradin forwards whenever the ball its way.
Scores: ROC 23.12.150 d Tooradin 9.7.61.
Goals – ROC: Stanton 8, M. Barker, L. Pitcher, J. Goodes 2, D. Blake, C. Williams, A. Young, N. Adcock, M. Castricum, B. Jones, D. Talbot, K. Quinn, B. Cowell, 1.

The Kangaroos returned to the winners’ list with a hardfought onepoint victory over Tooradin.
After trailing for most of the match, ROC hit the front with only minutes remaining and managed to hold on to record only its third win of the season.
Darren De Jong was outstanding for the home side in the ruck and up forward where he helped himself to four goals.
Matthew James continued his strong season and also managed a couple of majors in the tense final term.
Tooradin played well and led for almost the whole game, but poor goal kicking proved costly with six goals seventeen behinds.
Scores: ROC 8.6.54 d Tooradin 6.17.53.
Goals – ROC: D. de Jong 4, M. James 2, S. White, S. Webster, 1.
Best – ROC: Darren de Jong, Steve McIntyre, Aaron Moylan, Matthew James, Matthew Holloway.

Again short of numbers, the young Kangaroos struggled to compete with a bigger and more disciplined Tooradin.
Although ROC’s endeavour couldn’t be questioned, it again lacked the ability to put a competitive score on the board.
Played in very slippery conditions the match never reached any great heights as a spectacle.
Scores: Tooradin 13.13.91 d ROC 5.6.36.
Goals – ROC: D. Swinbourne 2, D. McDonald, D. Churchill, S. Main, 1.
Best – ROC: Daniel McDonald, Timmy Gray, Daniel Churchill, Gavin Staindl and Brad Emerson.
