ROTARY Club of Berwick president Tim Moore has reported a great day for the 44th annual club charity golf day.
Mr Moore said the event involved a big effort for members working in the van, on the course, selling raffle tickets, running the barbecue, taking wagers, calculating scores and arranging sponsors.
He especially congratulated golf day chairman Geoff Double and committee members Fred McCubbin and Gerald Treasure.
Mr Double said 158 players took part in the event, and many got more value for their money by taking a few extra swings.
Money raised on the day will go to Life Education, Legacy and Rotary community projects.
Winners on the day were: 18 hole Men’s A grade Stableford – 1st Roger Bacon, 2nd Bert Ainge; B grade – J O’Reilly, Bruce McCool; ladies A grade – Paula Rae, Heather Hamilton; B grade – Noelene King, Leslie Davidson.
18 Hole Handicap event – 1st Mario Mete, 2nd Kelvin Rhodes.
The Rotary team event was won by the Rotary Club of Dandenong Central team of Geoff Brown, John O’Reilly, Laurie Worsnop and Bill Power.
The teams event was won by Berwick Lotto’s Ross Seddon, Russell Whitney, Bill Hartley and John Riske.
The winner of the social team event was the Rotary Club of Hallam Valley, comprising Bert Ainge, John Kluyt, Barry Fletcher and Steve Fordham.
