Safe drive for Stingrays

WHILE there was no onfield play for the Dandenong Stingrays on the weekend, the action on the park was all about gaining experience and driving to success.
Stingrays’ players were joined by teenage members of the Beaconsfield Football Club in a car trial around the Beaconsfield area on Sunday, with 43 boys undertaking the challenge.
The car trial was part of the Stingrays’ 120hour sponsorship deal with the TAC, which encourages learner and young drivers to practice for at least 120 hours on the roads before sitting their driver’s licence test.
Players, together with parents and siblings took part in the trial that provided a safe and fun environment for learner drivers to practice their skills.
Stingrays’ regional manager Darren Flanagan was enthusiastic about the trial and said it was a worthwhile exercise.
“It was a good day and the kids all enjoyed it,” he said.
“The locals seemed to have the advantage because they knew the roads a little better, but the idea was to practice and that was achieved.”
The Stingrays will be back in action this weekend against Geelong and hopeful of a good finish to the season.
