Santa Claus comes to town

WHILE most children in Australia will be waiting to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas as he delivers their toys on Sunday morning, hundreds of lucky youngsters in Berwick saw the man of the month arrive by helicopter – not sleigh – on Saturday.
Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce committee member Lee Baker, who coordinated Santa’s visit, said she was pleased with the greeting Santa received from children.
Ms Baker said the chamber was thrilled to see almost 300 people at the event.
“We had lots of people to see him arrive by helicopter from near the landing site and many more at Pioneers Park,” she said.
“We had plenty of activity, including music from the Casey Choir.
“It was gorgeous to see the children.”
Santa will spend this week meeting people in the village.
Chamber committee members helped Santa distribute lollies and balloons to the children.
