MCMILLAN MP Russell Broadbent said almost $2 million would be made available to schools in the electorate as part of the Investing in Our Schools Program.
Mr Broadbent said students and staff at 38 schools in McMillan would benefit from a total of $1,998,067 in grants under the new Federal Government program.
“The money will be used for projects such as school library upgrades, musical equipment, information technology facilities, toilet refurbishments, and classroom and sporting facilities,” he said.
“The Investing in Our Schools Program is an exciting initiative which will deliver muchneeded projects to school communities.
“The program is especially significant because it will fund projects that have been identified by school communities themselves as being critical to their school.
“These projects, though often desperately needed by schools, never seem to make it on to priority lists.
“Rather school communities must face the long and arduous task of raising the necessary funding themselves.
“This clearly demonstrates the Australian Government’s continued commitment to a strong and effective school system, maximizing the opportunities for young Australians.”
