KOOWEERUP resident Sean Dwyer has been selected to represent Victoria at the School Sport Australia tennis championships.
The year11 student from Haileybury College in Keysborough caught the eye of Victorian selectors and was invited to further selection trials before finally securing a spot in the boys’ team.
Dwyer played all of his junior tennis for Lang Lang Tennis Club in the West Gippsland Tennis Association and now plays gradetwo pennant for Dingley.
The 16yearold will join teammates in a series of practice matches and training sessions before competing in the school sport event in Rockhampton, Queensland later this month.
Dwyer said Victoria was sending two teams of eight boys and girls to the event.
“It is the first time I have represented Victoria, so I’m pretty excited about it,” Sean said.
“I get to play eight matches during the event, hopefully I’ll do well.”
The championships start on 13 May.
