GOAL posts for a school oval, updated kitchen facilities at Garfield Bowls Club, a new computer, six sets of netball bibs, a laminating machine at Bunyip Kindergarten — all are thanks to the Bunyip Community Shop.
Local groups and organisations have shared a $16,000 windfall from the community shop.
The annual distribution of shop proceeds last week saw funding for projects ranging in value from $150 so memorabilia can be framed at BunyipLongwarry RSL to a $2000 contribution towards a bus for Hillview, Bunyip Aged Care.
Bunyip’s netball club, toy library, primary schools, kindergarten, hall committee, playgroup and CFA were among the groups and organisations to receive funding.
Tynong Playgroup, Longwarry PreSchool and Garfield’s primary school and bowling club also shared in the proceeds.
St Thomas Anglican Church, the Bunyip district newsletter and Columba Catholic Primary School received funds as well.
Shop spokesperson Sue Beattie said the outlet in High Street, Bunyip, had put around $66,500 back into the community since 2002.
The shop has a roster of 45 volunteers, aged between 16 and 86 years, who staff the shop six days a week.
