BERWICK Lodge Primary School launched its safe schools week with a colourful assembly recently.
School captains Jessy Wills and Bryce HillBuxton launched the week and introduced Casey crossing supervisors who guide students safely to and from the school each day.
Jessy said the week was about learning how to be friendly to each other and showing respect for other people and teaches.
Casey school crossing coordinator Dreena Lawrence told the children it was important to heed teachers who asked them to wear helmets while riding their pushbikes.
Ms Lawrence said it was also important that they did not ride their bikes on school property during prohibited hours.
She commended the work of school crossing attendants who worked in all weather to provide safe crossings for children.
Students compiled a song ‘The Berwick Lodge Rainbow Song’ that helped guide them in attitudes to each other and other people.
Berwick Lodge was one of 35 Victorian primary schools to receive a Federal government grant to support the special safety week celebrations.
