TIM Angwin played two top rounds to win the prestigious 36hole Beaconhills Country Golf Club Open on Saturday.
The event, part of a special week of golf at Beaconhills, carries Ivo Whitten status and was played in perfect conditions with Tim shooting morning and afternoon rounds of 69 and 68 to win with a gross 137.
Tim, who will soon to start his apprenticeship as a trainee golf professional, was proud to add this achievement to the many he won during his membership at Beaconhills from the age of nine until recently.
Daniel Wales, of Medway Golf Club, was the runnerup on a countback with 143.
The 36hole nett winner was decided on a countback, with Roy Solomon successful over Ray Robertson, both with 134 nett.
Also played on Saturday were the two plates, consisting of separate 18hole competitions on the Lakes and the Old courses.
The plate winner on the Old course was Rod Haag with 41 points.
All three grade winners scored 40 points Davie Crowe (Agrade), Anthony Quirk (Bgrade) and Wayne Davey (Cgrade).
The ladies’ winner was Jan Vanderschaft.
Brian Wills won the plate on the Lakes course on a countback also with 40 points.
The A and Bgrade winners were Geoff Styles (40 points) and Andrew Cleary (35 points) respectively.
Maureen Dean was the ladies’ winner.

It was a cold beginning to Beaconhills’ Week of Golf with rain and hail causing the ladies’ 27hole open to be postponed until 29 November
However by Sunday’s final events, the temperature was back up to 30 degrees.

John Madigan and Franz Eckhardt won the fourballbestball competition with 49 points accumulated between them.
Brothers Joe and Peter Langdon were runnersup on 47 points.

George Bruinsma of G & F Bruinsma Home Builders followed up his recent win in the Corporate Cup with a victory in the Corporate Teams Event.
George Bruinsma, George Grant, Bob Millership and Lindsay Martin proved an unbeatable combination.
The individual Stableford competition was won on a countback by G. Kent with 42 points from Ryan Fuller.

@BT Sub Sport Gaz:SUNDAY RESULTS

The fourballbestball competition was won by John Van Duyl and Jack Klein amassing 53 points to hold off runnersup Michael Berger and Wayne Johnson who scored 51 points.
The last Week of Golf event was the fourballbestball mixed event, on Sunday afternoon.
John Madigan, who had earlier in the week scored a win with Franz Eckhardt, now paired with Angie Walpole and took out the event with 47 points on a countback to runnersup Davis and MaryAnne Tsai.
