Tons of runs for young Bulls

Cardinia teenager John Nooy makes his way from the field triumphantly on Saturday after scoring his maiden A-grade century against Clyde. Cardinia teenager John Nooy makes his way from the field triumphantly on Saturday after scoring his maiden A-grade century against Clyde.

TWO centuries by young Cardinia batsmen gave the Bulls an A-grade win of almost 200 runs.

A GRADE

Maiden centuries by John Nooy and Troy DaRose highlighted a big Cardinia total against Clyde.
Being 2/80 at the end of week one, Nooy (32 not out) and DaRose (18 not out) resumed their partnership, batting for an epic 64-over stand of 171. Nooy brought up his century first, guiding the ball behind point for two in a memorable moment for the 17-year-old. He ran himself out one run later.
Troy’s older brother Ben added a swashbuckling 33 before being dismissed by Jarrod Leontini. Luke Turner was out for six before DaRose brought up his hundred with an easy push for two, his first century. He was eventually out for 129, having batted 90 overs.
Dwayne Doig played a handy innings at the end, finishing 18 not out. Cardinia was 6/327 and won by 197 runs.

B GRADE

Chasing Kooweerup’s 243, only three Cardinia batsmen made it into the 20s. Darren Aurisch top-scored with 27 and good contributions from Daniel Strahan (23) and Adam Hobson (20) helped the Bulls’ push past 100. But a tailend collapse restricted Cardinia to 133.

E GRADE

Another outright win pushed Cardinia closer to finals contention. After making a superb 279 the Bulls’ started well, bowling Kooweerup out for 50 in their first innings. Cameron Haynes was the destroyer, taking 5/15. Chris Lemmon picked up two wickets and Wayne Snooks and Matt Ryan each one.
Captain Snooks enforced the follow-on and did himself justice, taking 6/34 from 10 overs of medium pace and leg spin. Haynes chipped in with 2/12 and Lemmon 1/6.

UNDER 16

The young Bulls were asked to bowl and Nathaniel Wade struck in the fourth over to have Tooradin 1/8. Daniel Glen then took a wicket before a 103-run partnership followed and it took a thunderbolt from Tim Jeffrey to break the stand. Tooradin scored at a slow rate all day. Dylan Mitchell came on at the end to take 2/10 and at the end of 40 overs Tooradin was 5/145.

UNDER 14

The Bulls bowled first and managed to dismiss home side Lang Lang for 65. Bradey Welsh was the best of the bowlers, claiming 5/6. He received excellent support from Pat Nolan (3/20) and Brad Tanner (1/11). Travis Welsh also took a wicket.
After eight overs’ batting the Bulls were 1/19 by the end of play.

UNDER 12

Playing Nyora and bowling first in light drizzle, Cardinia got a good start with a great catch by Daniel Bonney off the bowling of Trent Wheeler, before wickets became scarce. Captain Nick Nolan took a great catch to give Travis Wheeler a wicket and then Jason and Daniel Bonney and Elijah Wade were rewarded for effort with a wicket each.
After Trent Wheeler claimed his second scalp, Nyora crept to 6/93 from 40 overs. The 25 extras conceded by Cardinia was a big improvement on recent weeks.
