Berwick Village Chamber of Commerce membership director Neil Sutcliffe welcomes new members National Bank business banking manager Paul Russell (left) and Berwick branch manager Amber Ferrier to their first chamber meeting.BERWICK Village Chamber of Commerce president Michael Hall foreshadowed a more intense campaign to have the Berwick Village streetscape completed and an acceptable garbage collection system introduced to the village.
Mr Hall told the February chamber meeting held at Jason’s Restaurant on Monday that Casey council officers had suggested the streetscape be delayed for two years and completed as one job.
He said the village was promised the streetscape in 1997 and the council was taking money from businesspeople to help pay for it.
He said in short the chamber wanted the work started now and would lobby accordingly.
The chamber also agreed to write to the council asking that it take responsibility for garbage collection in the commercial centre.
Chamber membership director Neil Sutcliffe said he was keen to see chamber membership increased from about 100 to 150.
“This is achievable and will enable the chamber to employ a fulltime manager,” he said.
