A DRIVER was trapped in her car for 30 minutes after a twocar collision in Harkaway last Wednesday.
Police said the Beaconsfield motorist was travelling south along Harkaway Road about 10am when it and a northbound vehicle collided.
Local State Emergency Service crews attended the scene and freed the trapped driver before ambulance officers transported her to The Alfred hospital with minor injuries.
The occupants of the second vehicle, an 87yearold man and 84yearold woman from Emerald, were taken to Dandenong Hospital for observation.
Berwick Country Fire Authority captain Alan Boyd said the crash was the second incident on the same stretch of road within three hours.
“We were called out to an earlier incident about 7am where a car lost control and skidded into a ditch,” he said.
Mr Boyd said a large amount of diesel fuel was on the road when his unit was called out to the scene.
“We called the council who arranged for sand to be put over the spill,” he said.
