BEACONHILLS Country Golf Club has a new ladies champion – 15yearold Vanessa Tranfield.
She won the prestigious event by 19 shots, scoring a total of 243 over three rounds that was decided on Wednesday, 19 April on the Old course.
Vanessa won the title for the first time from her first attempt.
In B grade, Rosalie Leake won the championship by eight shots on a total of 268 and also won the veterans’ championship with nett 208.
In C grade, Mary Griffin won the championship scoring 310 and won by seven shots, while in D grade Lesley Paterson won by three shots with a score of 338.
The aggregate nett event was won by Sally Kunz with a score of 206.
Each champion was presented with their championship brooch and the lady members all saluted their achievements and held a toast to celebrate their success.

LADIES RESULTS

In the daily competition, Maureen Hill was the winner in A grade with nett 69 and Dot Carter won B grade with a nett 67 which saw her drop five shots from her handicap.
The propin winners were June Biddle in A grade and Lorraine Baxter in B Grade, while the nearestthepin winners were Cora Shovelton on the sixth and Marilyn Ford on the 15th.

SATURDAY RESULTS

This was a par event that was also the qualifying round on the Old course for the Frank Nightingale Handicap Matchplay event.
On the Old course Alex McKay was the winner of A grade with plussix, in B grade Shane Stuart was the winner with plusseven and in C grade Steve Kidd won with plustwo.
On the Lakes course Chris Hinchliffe was the winner of the competition with plusfour.

SUNDAY RESULTS

There were 54 players who competed in the Stableford competition on the Old course.
The winner was Wayne O’Brien who scored 40 points and the runnerup was John Angwin with 39 points.

TUESDAY RESULTS

This was a par event that saw Matthew Collins win the day with plussix and Peter Versteege finish runnerup with plusfour.

THURSDAY RESULTS

Peter Versteege backed up his performance from Tuesday to win in A grade, scoring 38 points and Graeme Coates was the Bgrade winner with 44 points.

PENINSULA CHAMPION

Tim Angwin, won the Peninsula Championship in a 36hole matchplay final on Saturday.
Tim finished runnerup in the Beaconhills Club Championships and won the Junior Championship. They were both held in February this year.
