Walsdorf Creek in Harkaway has come under pressure from development to the extent that the natural creek life is extinct.
Residents neighbouring the creek in January complained about felled trees causing a fire hazard and said clearfelling damaged the wildlife habitat.
However, Cardinia Catchment Landcare president Margaret Cromb said the felling was necessary as part of the creek’s rehabilitation.
People wanting to restore the creek have met to find common ground on how this should be done.
Jim Mynard looks at how it was and how it should be.
