A PAKENHAM man has had the perfect start to 2009 with a whopping $3 million Powerball win.
The man, aged in his 50s, bought his winning Mega Quick Pick entry for the New Year’s Day draw at Sporting Chance in Hampton Park.
He had no idea he had won the first division until a Tattersall’s Lotteries representative contacted him the following day.
“You’ve made my day. Actually, you’ve made my year!” the man said.
He said he would pay off all of his debts and help out family members financially and then buy some land where he could raise some chickens.
Sharon Bunting, manager of Hampton Park Sporting Chance, said it was one of the biggest wins the outlet had seen in 27 years.
