LOCALS will be able to taste a trail of some of South-East Gippsland’s best food and wines at the Cardinia Ranges Farmers’ Market this Saturday.
Shoppers can also fill their picnic baskets with yummy treats and join families going to the Kids Day Out race day at the Pakenham Racecourse.
Farmer Market co-ordinator Suzzanne Carter-Madej said a highlight of this market will be a cooking demonstration featuring the zing of the season’s summer flavours.
“Greek salad” using many locally grown produce will be made following all the golden rules for making this classic popular salad.
“The market’s recipe team has selected Evelyn Seath’s Haunted Gully award winning Picual extra virgin olive oil for the Greek salad,” Ms Carter-Madej said.
The producers from Nicolas Olive Oil Estate are expert olive growers and they will be contributing the black kalamata olives.
The farmers’ market boasts a wonderful selection of cheeses and producer, Tarago River, who has a delectable range of cow and goat’s milk cheeses including a wonderful feta, will also be contributing to the success of the salad.
“A sure hit with the small folk who come on Saturday morning will be the kids snack trail that local farmers will be offering,” Ms Carter-Madej said.
This farmers’ market gate entry will be supporting Team Jesse -Relay for Life project which raises funds for cancer research.
The Cardinia Ranges Farmers’ Market is held on the second Saturday of each month at the Pakenham Racecourse from 8am to noon.
