POLICE have charged two men with burglary and several traffic offences after a pursuit along Clyde Road on New Year’s Eve.
The chase started about 2pm after a Harkaway resident rang police to alert them to the theft of a ride-on mower from a neighbouring property.
Police tried to stop the vehicle, but the chase was abandoned after a police officer received minor hip injuries.
Police said two men had previously knocked on the door of another Harkaway property that day, asking the owner about picking up a car.
The man who answered the door had no idea what the men were talking about and told them to get lost.
Police arrested two men – a 41-year-old from Narre Warren and a 33-year-old from Corinella – on Friday.
The 41-year-old was remanded and the 33-year-old was bailed to appear at the Dandenong Magistrates’ Court.
