Hard waste

CASEY residents are encouraged to have a summer clean-out.
Hard rubbish and green waste collection services begin on Monday 12 January and will continue for six weeks.
City of Casey Manager Engineering and Environment David Richardson said residents could put out any unwanted hard waste including white goods, furniture and bundles of green waste for the kerb-side collection.
“Residents will receive a brochure detailing the type of waste that can be collected and the collection dates for specific areas as material should only be placed out on the nature strip in accordance with the collection dates for your area,” Mr Richardson said.
Acceptable materials should be stacked in three piles.
Stack one: General hard waste such as household furniture, mattresses and small electrical appliances.
Stack two: Green waste, which can include up to five bundles of prunings, neatly tied with twine or string.
Stack three: Steel/metal items such as scrap metal no longer than 1.5 metres, small car parts and tools. White goods must have their doors taken off and paint tins must be empty and have lids removed.
Material must be out by 6am on Monday of the collection week.
Items should not exceed 55kg and cannot be longer than 1.5 metres in length. Renovation or building materials, batteries, chemicals, unwrapped or broken glass, and bricks will not be accepted.
