SEVERAL greyhounds had a lucky escape when flames engulfed a feed room at a Tynong property on Thursday.
Seven fire units attended the fire at greyhound trainer Carl Haas’s property, which started about 11.10am.
Dave Haycock, a friend of the family visiting from Western Australia, managed to rescue about 10 dogs that were threatened by the blaze.
Mr Haycock said he and his wife were heading out when they saw smoke coming from the building.
Nar Nar Goon CFA firefighter Brett Myers said the fire took about 25 to 30 minutes to control.
It burnt out a feed room, medical treatment room and an office at the property.
Pakenham CFA fourth lieutenant Daniel Ingram said firefighters suspected the cause of the blaze was electrical.
