PET owners can learn more about their furry friends during a special council event next month.
A best dressed pet competition, displays and giveaways are just some of the drawcards for the council’s annual Pet Expo on 28 February.
Council’s Senior Local Laws officer Brooke Ranken said the event provided the opportunity for pet owners to learn more about caring for their pet.
“It will be a fun day but will also be a good opportunity for owners to learn more about being a pet owner with stall holders from the pet industry on hand,” she said.
Discounted microchipping will be on offer for $20 per dog or cat.
“Microchipping is now compulsory for all new pet registrations and provides the best way for linking a pet to its owner if it becomes lost,” Ms Ranken said.
Residents can also take the opportunity on the day to register their pet with Cardinia Shire Council or renew or update their registration details.
Patrons are reminded to bring their dogs on leads and their cats in a cage. The expo runs at the Cardinia Shire Council offices from 10am to 2pm.
Businesses interested in participating in the pet expo can contact local laws at council on 1300 787 624 to register their interest.
