DON’T be confused if you see a lonely looking book lying around town and, more importantly, don’t be scared to pick it up.
The Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation has joined Victorian libraries in the Summer Read’s BookCrossing program.
Books are released in public places to be picked up and read by others who also then leave the book somewhere for others to do the same.
Pru Menzies, from the Casey-Cardinia Library Corporation released the book Cups With No Handles by Wonthaggi author Carolyn Landon in Gembrook Road, Pakenham Upper, last Thursday. A curious reader picked the book up that same day.
The books are labelled I’m Free! I’m Not Lost!
Cups With No Handles is the true story of feminist and environmental activist Bette Boyanton, who lived in Pakenham for a short time.
The Summer Read’s BookCrossing program is a worldwide movement with the aim to make the whole world a library.
