Surviving the downturn

THE Cardinia Shire Council is hosting a range of information sessions to help local businesses cope in the tough economic climate.
There will be various forums, workshops and networking opportunities during the first half of the year.
The calendar of training opportunities will kick start with the first workshop in the ‘Business Owners Success Strategy’ (BOSS) program.
Workshops will be conducted over five months and topics include: improving cash flows through smarter budgeting; making your marketing more effective; improving your leadership style to complement your team; recruiting and retaining the right staff; and improving your time management.
Council economic development officer Phil Jackson said the program aimed to assist start-up and established businesses achieve their next stage of growth.
“The program is delivered by a panel of local business professionals, who are all specialists in their field,” Mr Jackson said.
“Practical discussions will take place in a private forum, where ideas, challenges and solutions are shared.”
