WADE Willis is one of hundreds of Prep students across the Cardinia Shire who will start their first day of school next week.
Wade, 5, will start his schooling at Nar Nar Goon Primary School on Monday.
He has been practising for the big day by packing his school bag with sandwiches, apples, cereal, muesli bars and teddy-bear biscuits.
Not all of it will fit in his lunch box, so Wade has stashed some supplies in the lunchbox of his big sister Stacey, who starts Grade 4 this year.
Wade’s mother, Carol Willis, said her youngest was more than ready to begin his schooling.
“Every morning when I drop Stacey off at the bus stop, Wade wants to hop on the bus as well,” she said.
Wade, who has already been to school for two orientation days and a barbecue, said he was looking forward to using the play equipment and writing his name.
Cardinia Shire Preschool Field Officer Pauline Kruger encouraged parents to ensure their children, especially those attending school for the first time, made a successful start to the school year.
“It can be a happy, sad, busy, exciting, challenging and even stressful time for many families,” Ms Kruger said.
“Most importantly, we want parents to be positive and share the excitement of this special time with their children.”
She recommended that parents were organised before the big day, made sure their children were rested and well nourished and arrived at school on time.
