THE Pakenham Country Women’s Association (CWA) will kick off its busy year of fund-raising this month.
Members of the group will be at Safeway on Drought Relief Day, 20 February, to receive donations of toiletries to make up pamper packs for drought-affected farming families.
The CWA branch will hold a cake stall outside of Coles in the Pakenham Plaza on Friday 27 February to raise funds for the cause.
The group’s main focus for the year will be raising money to support a range of groups in the community, international projects and charitable organisations in Victoria.
There are opportunities for members, currently 30, to participate in activities such as craft, public speaking, music and drama, social issues, leadership and catering.
The new members on the Pakenham CWA 2009 committee are: president Jan Drinkwater, secretary Rosemary Davies, treasurer Janine Southern, magazine secretary Jan Edmanson and friendship officer Kathleen Langley.
Carol Clay will continue her role as vice-president, Bev Cottle as the assistant secretary and craft leader, Chris Johnson as minutes secretary and Barbara Ruepert as international officer.
