THE Poll Herefords will be the feature breed at the 2009 Berwick Show.
Breeders from all over Victoria will display their animals and the organisers expect more than 30 Poll Herefords.
The officiating judge is Peter Falls from Finley, southern NSW. Judging will take place on Saturday from 9am on the Cattle Judging ring.
With all other breeds, Berwick 2009 promises to be an outstanding cattle event. It will be one of the biggest cattle shows in Victoria besides the Royal Melbourne.
The Show will also cater for the budding cattle handlers and judges on Saturday.
There are three dairy and three beef handling competitions while a junior judging competition in both beef and dairy is also expected.
Sunday, in the cattle arena, will feature the annual small breeds classic with the Dexter and Lowline breeds in attendance. There is also the Hoof and Hook competition on Sunday morning with three weight classes judged on suitability of the animal for the market.
Sponsors of the Cattle Competition include Wesfarmers Federation Insurance, Clover Cottage, Spencer Family Breeders, Akoonah Park Committee of Management and Jennifer Jones Jewellery.
Visitors are welcome to move between the cattle lines to watch the dairy cattle being milked and beef cattle being groomed.
