BUNYIP’S bushfire recovery centre is on stand-by.
After assisting residents seeking and offering support all week in the wake of the devastating Victorian bushfires, the centre went on stand-by last Saturday. Cardinia Council staff and officials from Centrelink, the Department of Human Services and the CWA aren’t stationed at the centre but remain ready to re-activate the facility at short notice. Services provided at the recovery centre included counselling, financial assistance, emergency grants and other personal support.
Cardinia mayor Bill Pearson said the council activated the centre last Monday to assist residents affected by the Bunyip Ridge bushfires.
Residents can continue to seek or offer support via Cardinia Council’s 24-hour hotline 1300 787 624 or via the Baw Baw bushfire recovery hotline 1300 859 446.
