Service to recognise CFA work

MEMBERS of the community will have the opportunity to remember the devastating fires of Saturday 7 February at a church service in Bunyip this Sunday.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson said the service, to be held at St Thomas Anglican Church, was an opportunity for residents to give thanks for the effort that saw the Bunyip area spared much of the bushfire horror. He said they will also remember those whose lives, homes and communities have been so tragically affected by the fires.
“This service will recognise the good work of the all firefighters and other emergency services personnel who assisted so heroically in the Bunyip Ridge fires and those elsewhere around the state,” he said.
“How good are our CFA people? They are the greatest volunteers of all time… we wouldn’t stand a chance without our CFA army,” Cr Pearson said.
An open invitation is extended to all residents for the service, which will be led by Anglican Bishop of Gippsland John McIntyre and Father Jeff Richardson from 9am.
“It will provide the local community with the chance to consider those lives that have been lost, as well as acknowledge the good work of all our volunteers,” Cr Pearson said. For more information, contact Father Richardson on 5629 5295 or 0400 539 905.
