Finals have started

MID Gippsland’s finals commenced on Saturday with semi finals in all divisions. In division 1 played at Moe, top side Morwell was too good for Warragul defeating the side by 29 shots 110/81, with all rinks winning. Ian Kirkup beat Ken Scammell 28/21, Ian Hilsely won 29/18 over David Gatewood, Alan Ralls defeated Geoff Van Vugt 25/23 in the closest game and Phil Wynd beat Clive Padgham 28/19.
In division 2 at Trafalgar, Longwarry won its way into the grand final with a solid 94/80 win over Morwell. Garfield won the other semi beating Traralgon 112/103 after extra ends had to be played due to a draw after 100 ends, to take on Morwell in the preliminary final.
In division 4 the two Yallourn sides battled each other. The higher ranked number two side proved to be far better recording a 107/80 win over their fellow club members. In the other semi Traralgon proved far too good for Drouin recording a massive 123/72 win over the hapless Drouin side.
In division 5 Garfield and Longwarry had a great battle before Garfield ran out 64/59 in the closest final of the day. Traralgon made it a good day for the Traralgon club when it outclassed Yallourn 80/52 to go into the preliminary final against Longwarry.
The division 6 finals were played at RSL. In 6 West Trafalgar was too good for town neighbours Trafalgar Park winning 48/38 to go into the grand final against Warragul while in 6 East, Morwell (4) had a big 59/34 win over Traralgon to set up a grand final berth against fellow club members Morwell (3).
In Sunday’s preliminary final in division 1 Traralgon demolished Warragul with a massive 105/57 win. Abe Roeder had a huge 34/11 win over Geoff Van Vugt, Chris Ward beat Ken Scammell 30/14, Ross Sizeland won 22/15 over David Gatewood and Andrew Kent won 19/17 against Clive Padgham in the closest game of the day. Traralgon will play Morwell Club next Saturday for the division 1 pennant.
In division 2 Morwell proved a little too strong for Garfield recording a 116/90 win to gain a grand final berth against Longwarry. In division 5 Longwarry won well over Traralgon 76/56 to gain another crack at Garfield next Saturday. In division 6 West Trafalgar proved too good for Warragul running out winners 53/35 while in 6 EAST Morwell (4) upstaged the supposedly stronger Morwell (3) to win the pennant in the closest game of the day 47/46.
