SHOCKING scenes on television and published in newspapers have prompted a Cockatoo girl to do her bit for Victoria’s bushfire victims.
Jya Epstein, 10, has placed tins in shops at boxes in the street to collect money and goods for those affected by the tragedy.
“I was watching TV and reading the paper, and I was really sad to see the houses lost so I got some tins and put them out in shops to raise money,” she said.
Tins which Jya put in Cockatoo Foodworks and the Cockatoo General Store have raised $446.
Residents have also dropped off food and clothes in Jya’s boxes.
