WORKERS in Cardinia and Casey soon should be breathing easier thanks to a program that aims to help smokers kick the habit while they’re at work.
Occupational therapist Pamela Wouters, a trained Quit educator, said Quit would work with local businesses to arrange courses and seminars in workplaces.
“Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in communities across the state, and the impact of this falls on businesses as well as individuals,” she said.
“Employers and employees are increasingly seeing the benefits of getting help to quit in the workplace.
“We are seeing a growing interest from employers in running Quit programs at work for staff, as they recognise the productivity benefits of helping employees quit.”
Ms Wouters said the programs available varied in length, from short seminars to longer courses.
