AUDIENCES were singing and dancing as the Victoria Police band rocked the Berwick Show.
CODE ONE, featuring Leading Senior Constable Brian Carbery, Constable Lorena Novoa, and Senior Constables Richard Bennett, Jason Bond, Simon Deppeler and Rick Varlet, took centre stage for an hour on Sunday as they performed hit songs by Santana, the Black Eyed Peas, ABBA and Simple Plan.
The band, which is the spearhead of the Victoria Police Public Affairs Department, has as its main aim to break down any barriers between the community and Victoria Police.
Sen Const Deppeler, who has been playing in the band for 20 years, said the band enjoyed performing in front of the energetic crowd at the Berwick Show.
Bobby and Brenda Magee, with their children Brittany and Bradley, travelled from Seaford to see CODE ONE perform at last weekend’s event.
“They are absolutely fantastic,” Ms Magee said.
“We’ve seen them at the Moomba Festival and at various events in Frankston, and every time they get the audience singing along.”
After the performance, the band members signed autographs for their fans.
