Big House helpers

BIG House Communities is getting bigger, but is in need of a helping hand.
The community development group has put out a call for help as it begins to offer new activities at its Treloar Lane centre.
Scrapbooking, painting and information sessions on effective living are among the programs.
The organisation already runs a lunch program from noon to 1pm each weekday and evening meals on Tuesday and Saturday nights.
Alex Draghici, of Big House Communities, said the group was seeking the help of the broader community to keep the activities going.
“We aim to provide all of these activities at as low a cost as possible, so as not to exclude anyone.
“However, we need the community’s help to make all of this possible,” Mr Draghici said.
Big House Communities has been operating in Pakenham for more than four years.
It has run family fun days, and is part of the Cardinia Homelessness and Housing Action Group, as well as working with local schools, churches, Cardinia Shire and other social service groups.
To volunteer, or to find out more about the centre’s activities, call Alex Draghici on 0422 600 913.
