Holiday festival

CIRCUS Oz, a comedy night and bands day are among the attractions at the fourth annual PAVE (Performing and Visual Arts in Emerald) festival, which will run from Easter Monday (13 April) to the second week of the school holidays.
There are specific events and activities aimed at every age group and interest.
A FreeZA concert will be held on Friday 17 April for youth, there are two family days – the Emerald Lake Indigenous Culture Day on Tuesday 14 April and Fun in the Park at Puffing Billy Park on Saturday 18 April.
Those attending Fun in the Park can bring their dog to join in the Mongrel and Pedigree Dog Show, learn the ropes with Circus Oz workshops or enjoy the music, demonstrations, market and food stalls.
“If it’s music you’re into, there will be buskers galore as well as free performances in cafés. There’s live music on Saturday at Puffing Billy Park or blues at the RSL and the Women in Song night on Wednesday 15 promises to be a great night,” PAVE organiser Dale Blair said.
Local artists will be exhibited from Monday 13 April through to Sunday 19 April at Emerald Lake Environment Centre and Fine Art and Framing, Main Street, Emerald.
A photography exhibition will run on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 and includes a workshop led by Environmental Photographer Alison Pouliot (bookings essential on 0419 326 930).
The Readers and Writers Day will be held on Sunday 19 April, beginning with a poet’s breakfast.
