Rotary’s been having a ball for 20 years

This year the Rotary Club of Pakenham celebrates 20 years of Rotary debutante balls. This year the Rotary Club of Pakenham celebrates 20 years of Rotary debutante balls.

IN AUGUST the Rotary Club of Pakenham will celebrate 20 years of conducting debutante balls for the young people of Pakenham and surrounding areas.
Twenty years ago the balls were run at the Pakenham Hall and as their popularity grew the venue was changed by necessity to the Berwick Leisure Centre.
When the Cardinia Cultural Centre opened in 2004 the club quickly returned the balls to a great local venue.
In recent years the club has welcomed the children of some of the first participants as debutantes themselves.
It is estimated that over the 20 years more than 15,000 guests have witnessed some 1500 young people presented to Rotary and community leaders.
To celebrate this important milestone the club is planning to make this year’s ball a special event and encourages interested parties to attend an interest night at the Pakenham Hall on Sunday 5 April commencing at 7pm.
