Traffic blitz nets results

CARDINIA’S Traffic Management Unit (TMU) removed a mixed bag of speedsters, drink-drivers and “idiots” from the shire’s roads last week.
Last Wednesday the TMU intercepted a 36-year-old Mulgrave woman on McGregor Road who blew a blood alcohol reading of 0.067.
“What disgusted us the most is she had an eight-month-old baby in the car, which I ended up babysitting while she was processed,” Senior Constable Mal Marsden said.
On Friday night, five drivers were disqualified from driving, including a 17-year-old learner riding a motorcycle travelling at 118km/h through a 50km/h zone in Beaconsfield, and a 23-year-old Southbank male travelling at 156km/h on the freeway through Nar Nar Goon.
On Saturday, a 28-year-old Newborough man was caught travelling at 127km/h on the Pakenham Bypass, a 100km/h zone.
The man also blew 0.102, twice the legal limit.
His licence was suspended for 20 months as he had prior offences.
“We are a little bit disgusted that the message isn’t getting through,” Sen Const Marsden said.
