TRADERS and residents were shown how to take action against unsightly vandalism at council graffiti demonstrations on Saturday.
The demonstrations of the Cardinia Shire’s free graffiti kits were held in Main Street, Pakenham, near Bob Burgess Reserve in Beaconsfield and in Murphys Lane in Emerald.
The chairman of Cardinia Shire’s Community Safety Committee, Councillor Brett Owen, said the council was urging residents and businesspeople to help eradicate graffiti after the success of the shire-wide graffiti removal effort last year.
“The removal of 1000 incidences of graffiti during the council’s shire-wide clean-up last year has gone a long way to improving the situation and the effort of residents and businesses to remove the new graffiti quickly will make a significant difference for the future,” he said.
To obtain a kit, Cardinia Shire residents or business can contact the council on 1300 787 624 then collect the kit from Hardy’s Mitre 10, Pakenham, Speight Hardware in Kooweerup or Mitre 10 Solutions in Emerald.
Cardinia Shire Council’s Report, Remove, Reduce campaign is supported through the National Community Crime Prevention Program.
