CARDINIA Shire mayor Bill Pearson is getting ready to host a thank-you service to honour local CFA members and other volunteers.
The public event will pay tribute to those who protected the community during Bunyip’s Black Saturday firestorm.
The function will be held at the amphitheatre at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in Pakenham and will feature a formal recognition service as well as plenty of activities for children and other fun for families.
Cr Pearson said the service would provide the community with the opportunity to thank local CFA brigades and other volunteers for their efforts over this extremely tough and tragic fire season.
The service on Sunday 19 April begins at 2pm.
After the service and recognition ceremony, residents will be able to enjoy a sausage sizzle and a range of family activities.
The event is open to all residents with a special invitation being issued to all the shire’s CFA brigades.
