MEMBERS of the Pakenham Probus Club recently enjoyed a five-day tour to Providence Lodge in Adaminaby in New South Wales.
The lodge is located near the spectacular 690.000 hectare Kosciusko National Park.
The visited the Kiandra site of the 1859 gold rush and extracted 172 ounces of alluvial gold.
The group walked deep into the Jillebenan Cave to see the amazing stalactites and stalagmites and were entertained and amused at the Boggy Creek horse, cattle dog and sheep show.
They then enjoyed a relaxing trip on the vintage train from Cooma to Chakola.
At the new educational centre, the group marvelled at the magnitude of the Snowy Hydro Scheme which began in 1949, took 20 years to complete and employed 60,000 new immigrants.
Next viewing the blue waters of Lake Eucumbene and the new site of Adaminaby the club was very impressed with the beautiful creation of the stage curtain which 85 adults and 30 children had hand embroidered.
An interesting tour and thanks to the Valma, Joanne, also the members and visitors who supported the Probus Club.
