LAND sales in the Cardinia Shire are still strong, defying the global economic turndown.
Cardinia Shire mayor Bill Pearson says an increase in first home buyer grants has seen strong land sales in the municipality.
“The one thing in Cardinia that is still going is the residential sales,” he said.
An influx of first home buyer sales at Lakeside Pakenham has seen the near sell-out of land at the project’s Botanic Walk and Shearwater villages.
More than 40 sales in March were recorded in these areas, the last available land in Lakeside Pakenham.
The increased first home buyer grants end on 30 June.
