Family’s grief

A BERWICK family is remembering the life of their 11-year-old daughter, who died last week after a traffic accident.
Sandra Paige Iredale will be farewelled this Friday during a service at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Berwick.
Last Thursday’s collision involving a Ford utility occurred about 5.35pm at the intersection of Grant Close and Parkhill Drive in Berwick.
The driver, a 23-year-old Berwick man, was not injured.
The Berwick Lodge Primary School student was airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital where she died about 9.20pm.
Parents Anna and Scott Iredale described Sandra as being a bright, bubbly girl, who lived life with no fear.
“Sandra loved AFL and was a keen supporter of the Geelong Cats,” Mr Iredale said.
The couple said they knew how good their daughter was but didn’t realise how much she touched the lives of others.
“She’ll never be forgotten,” Mrs Iredale said.
Berwick Lodge Primary School principal Henry Grossek described the Grade 6 student as being a lovely girl.
He told the Gazette the tragedy came as a shock to the whole school community.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
Later that night, police were called to another traffic accident in Berwick.
A 20-year-old man was walking across High Street near the Berwick Inn when the collision happened.
The man was taken by ambulance to the Casey Hospital.
