FOOTBALLERS will be able to play under lights at Officer’s second recreation oval.
Work on the oval is almost complete and councillors have just accepted a tender to have floodlighting installed.
The installation will cost $219,805 plus GST.
Cardinia Shire councillor Collin Ross said floodlightning for the oval was essential.
“The second oval will be used by juniors more than anybody else,” Cr Ross said.
“If you don’t have lighting, it makes it hard for parents to get there before it gets dark.”
Cardinia Shire councillor Brett Owen said an extensive upgrade to electricity supply will be required for the project.
The addition of the second oval is part of a multi-million overhaul at Officer Recreation Reserve.
There are plans for five netball courts, two tennis courts, car parking and a state-of-the-art pavilion.
