New principal appointed at Kooweerup

DENNIS Pratt is the new acting principal of Kooweerup Secondary College.
Mr Pratt started at the school on Monday after eight years at Marnebek School, in Cranbourne.
He has taken the reins from former acting principal Peter Bottomley, who sat in the seat before the end of Term 1, and will be in the role for 12 months.
Mr Pratt was the foundation principal of Marnebek School, a government school that offers P-12 education for students with a range of disabilities.
“It’s not a big move, just down the road really,” Mr Pratt said.
Mr Pratt started his career as a teacher and worked as a psychologist for the Education Department before becoming principal of Marnebek School.
Despite being in the seat for only a few days, Mr Pratt said he had enjoyed an easy transition in becoming principal of Kooweerup Secondary College.
“It’s a really friendly school, it’s an open school and the kids are terrific, very friendly and they have made me feel welcome,” he said.
“The two assistant principals, Peter Bottomley and Leonie McGinley, have been great as well.”
Mr Pratt, a fan of live music, said he was looking forward to getting to know students and parents at school performances and a Grade 6 information night.
