IT took 35 minutes – plus days of preparation – to move an historical Nar Nar Goon Primary School building just hundreds of metres down the road.
The 8.5-metre wide weatherboard classroom was loaded onto a trailer early last week and transported to its new location on Sunday morning.
It will soon be restumped at the Nar Nar Goon town entrance and transformed into a museum.
Jason Downes family’s connection with the school, spanning four generations, prompted him to save the building and use it as a place to showcase the school’s history and its former students.
Mr Downes, a former student himself, said Sunday’s move had created much interest in the mural town.
“It was a fair bit of fanfare just for moving up the road,” he said.
Mr Downes thanked those who made the move possible. He said he had received phone calls from people wanting to contribute to the museum but was looking to get more people involved.
Anyone interested can call Jason on 5942 5419.
