Paky Probus big day out

THIRTY-THREE Pakenham Probus Club members boarded a bus bound for Etihad Stadium – the biggest stadium in the Southern Hemisphere with a retractable roof.
The group toured the stadium, marvelling at its many features on 17 April.
Members visited the coach’s boxes, media room, change rooms and tribunal room before enjoying a meal while overlooking the stadium
The roof is in two sections each weighing 1100 tonnes and takes eight minutes to open or close.
Special lights heat the grass surface to provide even growth over the whole of the arena.
The oval is 170 metres long and 159 metres wide and the roof is 38 metres above the surface.
Nobody has managed to hit the roof with a football, but a cricketer has managed this feat while batting.
A visit to a chocolate factory on the way home topped off an excellent day for the group.
