TWO roads in the Cardinia Shire will be upgraded as part of a $144.7 million nation-wide black spot program.
Toomuc Valley Road, Pakenham, and Yannathan Road, Nyora, are among the 26 black spots in the McMillan electorate which will be fixed at a cost of more than $2.8 million.
Guard rails will be installed, line marking improved, trees removed and shoulders sealed on a section of Toomuc Valley Road between the Princes Highway and Leppitt Road at a cost of $764,000.
On Yannathan Road, between Watts Road and Glovers Road, $143,000 will be spent to improve delineation and to seal intersecting road and property access bell mouths.
The Federal Government has almost tripled funding from $50 million to $144.7 million for the 2008/09 Black Spots Program under its National Building Plan to support jobs.
Included projects were recommended by a panel of independent road safety experts including the RACV, Victorian Transport Accident Commission, police and state and local government.
