PAKENHAM headed to Casey Fields to play Cranbourne at the exposed and remote netball courts – however the weather eventually fined up after a wet and cold morning offering a great playing and spectators day with some hard fought out games.

Pakenham was made to work for the entire 60 minutes of their match against a well-drilled, and tenacious Cranbourne on Saturday at Casey Fields.
Cranbourne got an early jump on Pakenham in the first quarter, and caught Pakenham on the back foot with strong, well-timed leads across the court, and held a three-goal lead midway through the first period.
Pakenham, although not playing at their best, were able to create priceless turnovers, and get back to a 14-all score at quarter time.
The second quarter was another closely contested affair, with neither team able to create a handy lead, but on the back of 15 goals from 16 attempts from Rachel Priestly, Pakenham were able to open up a three-goal lead at half time.
A few positional changes at half time in both attack and defence provided Pakenham with the necessary edge over Cranbourne in the third quarter, where both Priestly and GA Cathy Leeves shot a collective 19 goals for 24 attempts to give Pakenham a seven-goal buffer going into the last quarter.
Eager to finish the game off on a good note, Pakenham never allowed Cranbourne an opportunity to close the gap, and eventually outscored Cranbourne by two goals in the last quarter. Pakenham 68 d Cranbourne 59.

After a great win against Beaconsfield last week B Grade wanted to keep the momentum going making the trip out to Casey Fields to play Cranbourne.
Pakenham had a great start to the game in the first quarter with some strong goaling by Toni and Sarah to take a 17 to six lead at quarter time. The last quarter saw players getting tired but relentless defence from Erin Cunningham and Jess Benn had Pakenham win by 11 goals. Thanks to Jess Christie also for being on our bench.
Pakenham 53 d Cranbourne 42.
Best: Erin Cunningham, Danni West.

C Grade put in another good performance winning in all positions on the court.
Pakenham’s strength in playing in front in defence turned the ball over giving centre court and goalers every opportunity to stick to their game plan. Pakenham’s confidence and teamwork is achieving great results. Allison Chrisite and Hayley Crandell’s consistent pressure won them best-on-court.
Pakenham 40 d Cranbourne 25.

The conditions at Cranbourne are always difficult to contend with, but that didn’t stop Pakenham from playing a great game.
The ball flowed well down the court, and the girls kept their focus for the whole game. The team produced strong leads and their passing was exceptional. Pakenham 38 d Cranbourne 15.

The Lions took on Cranbourne at Casey Fields in wet, cold and windy conditions which made the game very messy with a lot of unforced errors by both teams as players were unsure of themselves on the wet surface.
Courtney’s accuracy in front of goal ensured that we kept the lead throughout the first half. Once again our defence was strong as Grace gained many intercepts however because of poor passing the ball kept coming back as quickly as it was being throwing out.
Cranbourne played an excellent third quarter and went into the final quarter with a three-goal lead.
Pakenham 18 d Cranbourne 14.
Best: Courtney Egerton.

The girls had a disappointing game against Cranbourne on Saturday. Struggling to get in the front for the passes gave the opposition a lot of turnovers and our defensive pressure wasn’t there this week.
Kayla Spicer played a great game in goals and wing attack and Sam Ryan also put in a great effort.
Cranbourne 46 d Pakenham 7.
Best: Sam Ryan.
