PAKENHAM Show’s senior rural ambassador Samantha Richardson will contest the state title at the Royal Melbourne Show after winning regional finals at Wonthaggi earlier this month.
The 22-year-old Longwarry resident has been involved in rural shows since she was born, making her first appearance at the Royal Melbourne Show at age two on a show pony.
Ms Richardson is a regular at regional agriculture shows, concentrating on show jumping.
Her dedication has seen her win a horsemanship scholarship to spend three months in Germany studying horsemanship at major horse jumping stables.
She is currently studying psychology and hopes to do her fourth year diploma of education to become a primary teacher.
The Pakenham show’s junior representative Alysce MacLaren also appeared at the Wonthaggi regionals, finishing second.
The Year 12 student at Tintern College is heavily involved in the school’s sheep rearing program, and hopes to continue to study agricultural science when she completes her VCE.
She said she entered all the agricultural shows with her sheep, but Pakenham Show was her favourite.
